Interior - Honours (Interior Design)

The Neighbourhood

The Neighbourhood is a project designed to be a dementia-friendly environment and provide an opportunity to practice alternative treatments and preventative methods for those with early on-set dementia, with the aim of improving mental and physical stimulation and ultimately the quality of life. With inspiration for the design coming from the elements of a neighbourhood, focusing on streets and the nodes of gathering created by these forms. The aim was to integrate creative and unique design into a healing environment. Elements such as sustainability, accessibility, social interaction, meaningful activity, sensory stimulation and familiar design have been used throughout to justify the project.

“Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.”
